Seminar on the possibilities of determining high-voltage insulator conditions from their acoustic signatures

For several years, VUJE, a.s. recorded acoustic emissions of HV insulators on 400kV pylons. As part of the DICRIS project, experts analyzed the acoustic environment, simulated various types of contamination and damage to insulators in an HV testing laboratory, and developed a contamination classifier based on sound emissions. Subsequently, they evaluated the correlation between weather patterns and sound data, proposing new acoustic indicators that carry critical information regarding insulator conditions.
